In the Spring of 2001, we were honored to have Dr. Jozef
Straus, the CEO of JDS Uniphase visit our lab. We had a wonderful time showing
him our research.
He engaged us with intriguing stories of his own years as a
graduate student, of his first years at JDS Fitel and of his excitement as he
witnessed the growth of the fiber-optic communications industry from its early
years to WDM and beyond.
